Location
The South coast of West Java
is only four hours drive from Jakarta but is a world apart.
Protected to the North by a range of volcanoes the area is sparsely
populated and spectacularly scenic. The resort is on the West side
of the large bay around Pelabuhan Ratu
Due North is the Nature
Reserve Gunung Halimun, Misty Mountain, the largest Park in West
Java. The 40,000 hectares include some of Indonesia’s largest
remaining lowland and montane forest ranging from 500 to 1900
metres.
To the South of the bay is
another reserve, Ujung Genteng, famous for its remote turtle beaches
and wild surf. On the way the road passes the sweeping mountain
landscape of the Djampang plateau and the tea plantations of the
Dutch.
The bay opens up to the Indian
Ocean to the West, and features rugged cliffs, rocky headlands,
secluded beaches and some pounding surf. |
